Troubles...

Hello

Not sure if this forum is still alive any more, but it's worth a shot Smiley

I bought John's book a year and a half ago, and my passion for AP has come up and gone away just as quickly during that time.

Recently I have become much more interested in it again, to the point that I have been trying John's technique every night.

However, my biggest problem isn't dealing with the visualization, it's the remembering to complete it when I wake up in the night. Often I can't tell the difference between waking and dream realities, and don't carry out the visualization. Therefore I wake up in the morning, don't feel anything except for wanting to get up.

That line is so blurred it's really hard to concentrate and achieve the visualizations needed. It's also a real challenge to stop invasive thoughts interrupting the process (anyone know how to get rid of earworms??).

I can visualize perfectly well when wide awake, but my mind goes bonkers when I attempt to shut it off.

Any way, I will keep at it until things are successful, and I look forward to that moment. In the meantime, I could use any and all advice!

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,
Let's find a way to make the visualization process work with you (instead of against you Smiley ). If you can't wait to get out of bed in the morning, then you probably should. Make some toast and enjoy the morning. Then get on the bed or sofa, relax, and meditate. Start the visualization as you fall back to sleep. Remember, the visualization can be anything; it does not have to be visual, the only requirement is that it captures your attention and focuses it away from the body, so that the subconscious has no way of knowing whether you are still awake.

If thoughts creep into your visualization, use them. It takes a lot of energy to wall them out. Incorporate them into your process, let them carry your attention away from the body.

Let me know how it works out,
John
